We mentioned beer prices could be going up previously.  Michael Brush of MSN Money ways in on the issue as well.  Looks like its time to dust of that homebrewing equipment!

Re: More Bad News For Beer Prices

It does not seem to be going up too much per case. Though thats not the point. The corporate Beer is all the same. We just did a taste test two weeks ago. Openend up a Strohs, Old Style, Schlitz, Budwieser, and Michalobe. All present "blind" tasted samples from each. I can honestly say they all taste exactly the same. No kidding here. We were amazed. I do recall American Beer back in the 1970's being differant. At a party if someone gave you a beer in a glass, you knew if it was an Old Style or Strohs (biggest selling beers in this Chicago area back then with young adults --AKA Baby-Boomers). So the thought of paying more for the same stuff--no differance in the brands-- is sad.
But, thats why I like to make my own. I can't take the modern swill, and I don't want to pay ten bucks a 6 pack for micro-beer or Imports. Thats what it cost now in my area.

Yes and even the big beer makers are trying to make microbrew style beers I see, but the cost is still way too much for its blandness etc. I think even some microbrews cost a bit much. Making a good beer to your own taste is worth it even if it does cost more. Microbrew beers are definitely worth buying in between batches of home made.
