The only way to avoid the price increases is to not buy their beer.  Now there is more reason then ever to brew beer yourself!  For 99.99 you can make 6 gallons of beer in the comfort of your own home.

Check it out!

Re: Price of beer going up!

Time for you to do another post on the Cost of Homebrewing compared to Commerical beers. maybe you could do a costing with only dextrose and then the brew sugars .

Re: Price of beer going up!

Here in Illinois the Beer tax will be increased this September. Now the Brewerys are raising prices in this crummy environmet of economic downturns? Thank god I have had a Cooper Kit for a few years now. It's back to the days of prohbition as far as I am concerned. Just make your own hooch and don't pay this extortion to the new Al Capone's.

Budwieser or Schlitz doppleganger?

Has anyone any ideas of how to turn a Cooper kit into a typical American corporate type lager beer? (Yes, I do like the micro-beer/import styles. But sometimes a "Bud" type beer with friends is the perfect beverage.) I have tried the Cooper Lager kit, but find it is better than Bud. Must be something I can add to it.
With the mega-breweries price increase kicking iin soon, I know I won't be buying any store bought suds.

You can try using rice extract.

Re: Price of beer going up!

Ok heres how you make Bud ,1 can Coopers Brewmaster Selection Pilsener ,1kg of Dextose ,2kg Of rice malt and then mix together in a coopers fermenter fill to 20 literes

Now get this

Get another fermenting bucket and fill to 10 liters with the mixture you just made and top up with water to 20 liters amd then pitch with two packeys lager yeast or make a starter out of your Coopera lager yeast supplied with the kit and split it between two batches .

Why do I say this .

Its becuse when Bud miller Coors make any beer they make a Beer with a large amount of adjuncts like corn and rice that has a gravity of about 1.086 to save space in their fermentation vessels then they dilute the beer post fermentation to 1.04- with water that has no dissolved oxygen in it (de-aerated water).

So if you want to make a Bud Clone you have to water down your beer down :) .

Or You could just make a wonderful full flavored beer craft beer by brewing Coopers Homebrew Concentrate as normal and adding some finishing hops and steeping some cracked specialty grains in some hot water (a French press for coffee is great for this ) to add some variation to the Coopers Beer pack .
