Last week I received a direct Twitter message from a MakeBeer customer who was having problems with carbonation. He made the Coopers Original Series Draught and after 12 days in the bottle, it was still not carbonated. When he opened his bottles, gas was released but the beer itself was flat. I suggested that he put his bottles in the refrigerator for a couple of days so that the gas can be absorbed into the beer. After the CO2 has been absorbed, you can remove your beers from the refrigerator and let them age at room temperatures.

If you have any questions or any tips, let us know.

Cheers!!

Re: Carbonation and Carbonation Drops

I always age the beer for at least 4 weeks and if possible the first week or 2 at 70 degrees and then lower temps for the next 2 weeks .

Re: Carbonation and Carbonation Drops

this step left me a bit confused. after reading the instructions, then watching the video, I noticed that the written instructions say invert the bottle four times, but the video makes no mention of it. After adding the drops and the beer, and closing the bottle, does it need to be inverted to mix, or it doesn't matter? Sanitizing the fermenter now, while drinking a PBR.

Re: Carbonation and Carbonation Drops

It doesn't need to be inverted to mix. The inversion serves to stir up the yeast that is in suspension in the bottle. It speeds up the process.
